Bobcats sweep UTPA With 6-1 Win

SAN MARCOS - Texas State allowed just one run on four hits, and six different Bobcats drove home a run in Texas State's 6-1 victory over Texas-Pan American Tuesday.

The Bobcats got a strong performance on the hill from Scott Moore, who went five innings allowing three hits and striking out five en route to his first win of the season.

Texas State's offense came from every angle as six different Texas State players carded RBI in the game. The `Cats first run came on Cassidy Dresch's third-inning RBI double that plated Dominic Ramos from second. Texas State would get the deciding run on Elliott Babcock's solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth. The Bobcats dotted the final five innings with RBI from Ramos, Kyle Anson, Heath Keel and Jose Rodriguez.

Texas State had three players with a multi-hit game, as Ramos and Rodriguez were two-of-four and Dresch went two-of-three in the victory. The `Cats totaled six runs on 11 hits and benefited from two UTPA errors.

Taking the loss for the Broncs was Cesar Pena, dropping his record to 0-1 on the season. UTPA's lone run was scored by Aaron Flowers on a Louie Alamia sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth.

With the win, Moore improves to 1-0 on the season and the Bobcats jump to 6-1. The loss drops UTPA to 2-7.

Up next for the Bobcats is a three-game series in Albuquerque, N.M., with the New Mexico Lobos. First pitch Friday is set for 7 p.m., and Saturday's game will follow at 3 p.m. The Bobcats will wrap up the series with New Mexico Sunday, with first pitch coming at 1 p.m. All listed game times are Central Standard Time.
