Texas State Softball Falls to North Texas, 2-1

SAN MARCOS, Texas -The Bobcats fall to 3-5 on the season with their 2-1 loss to North Texas, Tuesday at Bobcat Field. The win marks the first for the Mean Green.

Holly Britain hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to bring the Bobcats with in one run of the Mean Green. Britain's run was not enough to propel Texas State past North Texas for the win.

Center fielder Kelei Walker and pitcher Kristina Fowler scored NTU's two runs in back-to-back innings. First Fowler scored off a double to right center from teammate Heather Bostic. Walker added the winning run on a sacrifice fly to left field.

Katie Ann Trahan pitched all seven innings for the Bobcats allowing two runs to score on four hits. Trahan only walked one batter while striking out eight. North Texas used three hitters Fowler, Katy Maxey and Mandy Hacker.

The Bobcats will be hosting the nationally ranked University of Texas Longhorns tomorrow for a double-header beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
