Bobcats Lose 71-69, in Close Match at UT-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Texas State women's basketball fell 71-69 to UT-San Antonio in the Convocation Center. The Bobcats came back to tie the Roadrunners 69-69 with less than a minute on the clock with a pair of free throws from Tori Talbert after being down 12 points with seven minutes left to play.

UTSA won the game with 5.8 seconds left in the game on a lay-up by Katie Sandefur. Texas State ran the ball back down the court for an attempt at one three-point shot from Jenna Hoffman, with no success.

Talbert turned her free throw shooting around from the Bobcats game at Stephen F. Austin where she shot 29 percent from the line. Tonight Talbert shot a perfect ten for ten from the charity stripe. She also recorded her tenth double double with 18 total points and 11 boards.

Tamara Thompson led all scorers with 22 points, a new career high. She also added five boards, one assists, and one steal. Ashley McGruder was the third Bobcat to score in double digits with 12 points, which included two from long range. McGruder also had two assists and two steals for the game.

The Roadrunners were led by Richelle Parks with 17 points and eight boards. Parks had been averaging 13.4 points per game. Sandefur and Ana Oliveira helped UTSA by adding 12 points a peice

The Bobcats will be playing a three game home stand over the next two weeks. First Texas State will play host to Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum. On Saturday, Lamar University will be facing the Bobcats for 4:00 p.m. tip. The three game home stand will end with McNeese State on February 24.
