Battle on the Bend Second-Round Results

MANY, La. - Texas State dropped two places into a tie for 10th Tuesday during the second round of the Battle on the Bend men's golf tournament at Cypress Bend Golf Resort.

Texas State shot a 610 Tuesday after an opening round 301 on Monday. The Bobcats head into Wednesday's final round with a team score of 611. Texas State is tied with McNeese State, five strokes back of Nicholls State and Houston who are tied for seventh, and four strokes behind Stephen F. Austin which sets currently in eighth place.

New Orleans is the tournament leader by 10 strokes over second-place Rice after a second-round 283 gave them a score of 567. Rice's Parker LaBarge leads the individual medalist chase after back-to-back 69s (138) and is two strokes ahead of Southeastern Louisiana's Matthew Carvell and Louisiana-Lafayette's Michael Smith.

Texas State's top golfer after two rounds is Tyler Barnes who is tied for 28th place. He has a two-round score of 151 (75-76). Back one stroke in a tie for 34th is Chris Figueroa while Jamie Luna is two strokes back of Barnes tied for 39th.

The tournament pits teams from the states of Texas and Louisiana. Cypress Bend is located on the shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir which borders both states.
