Battle of the Bend First-Round Results

MANY, La. - Texas State had its top four golfers all finish with rounds in the 70s Monday to open play with a score of 301 at the Battle of the Bend.

The final fall tournament for the Bobcats is a 13-team field consisting of squads from Louisiana and Texas. The University of New Orleans carded a 284 and holds a four-stroke lead for the lead over second place Rice. Southeastern Louisiana is in third (292) while Tulane is in fourth (293).

Jamie Luna was Texas State's top first-round finisher, carding a score of 74. He is tied for 24th. Chris Figueroa and Tyler Barnes both shot 75s and are tied for 28th. Sam Houston State's Robert Gwin shot a four-under par 68 and is the first-round, individual leader.

The tournament continues through Wednesday at Cypress Bend Golf Club.
