Karry Griffin knocked down 15 kills and 15 digs, while Lawrencia Brown chipped in her second-straight double-double (13 kills, 10 digs), but the `Cats fell short for the fourth straight match, losing 3-2 to Northwestern State to close the regular season.
The setback marked the first loss in Texas State volleyball history to the Demons, who were 0-29 all-time against the `Cats coming into the match.
Texas State (14-14, 12-6 SLC) took game one from Northwestern State (11-14, 9-9 SLC) in a 32-30 opening-game win, but the Demons quickly jumped in front with wins of 30-27 and 30-26 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Bobcats forced game five with a 30-21 win in game four, but Northwestern was too much, beating the `Cats 15-11 to close the match with the 3-2 win.
Though it lost its final three SLC matches of the regular season, Texas State is still guaranteed an SLC tournament bid. The loss dropped Texas State into a third place tie with Texas-San Antonio in the regular season standings.
