Texas State soccer won its second Southland Conference match on Sunday afternoon, defeating Louisiana-Monroe 2-1 in overtime. With four games left in the season, the `Cats stand at 5-8-0 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Rikki Padia assisted on both Bobcat goals on the afternoon. She set up Natalie Jackson's third goal of the season with just under four minutes to play in the first overtime period. Jackson's goal, her third of the season, was her first game winner.
Scoreless at halftime, Texas State's Reagan McNutt kicked her fourth at 62:06. Texas State outshot the Indians 14-7 in the winning effort. In three previous games, the Bobcats had not scored the first goal, going 1-2 in those contests.
Goalkeeper Paige Perriraz notched five saves, including the first that came on an Indian penalty kick from Tara Balogh early in the first half.
The Bobcats let the Indians (7-6-0, 0-2 SLC) even the match at one late in the game when Nicole Nichols scored off a corner kick from Amanda Wing. Rachel Marcom, who held a 1.62 GAA entering the contest, made six saves on the afternoon.
Texas State will be in action next weekend. The team travels to Northwestern State on Friday for a 7 p.m. start. Originally scheduled as a Saturday road game, the Bobcats will host McNeese State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
