SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State soccer won its second conference game Friday 3-0 against the Northwestern State Lady Demons. This shut out marked the first one for Bobcat goalkeeper Brittany Beltramini this year as well as her career.
Both teams remained scoreless throughout the first period.
The Bobcats came out for the second period ready to score. Two minutes into the period, senior Kendra Kade put the first goal on the board for the Bobcats. Kade forced the ball past Northwestern's goalie, after several deflections off of Lady Demons.
At the 52:40 mark on the clock preseason All-Conference selection, Natalie Holder scored the team's second goal of the game, her fifth for the season.
Less than one minute later freshman Danielle Holloway scored goal number three for the Bobcats. Dani leads the team in goals with seven. She was assisted by senior forward Jaynee Sherman, her second assist for the evening. Sherman leads the team with five assist for the season.
Overall the 'Cats took 13 shots on goal compared to Northwestern's five. Beltramini was solely responsible for saving each of the Demon's shots on goal.
Head coach for the Bobcats Kat Conner said, "We had great leadership from our seniors tonight." "Kendra Kade and Jaynee Sherman showed the rest of the team what it means to give the extra effort you need to win."
Sunday at 1 pm, the Bobcats will play host to their next conference competition, the Louisiana-Monroe (6-2-1) Indians. Louisiana-Monroe defeated Sam Houston State 4-2 on Friday.
