Texas State Falls on Road to McNeese State, 2-3

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State volleyball team dropped their second straight match on Friday night, losing to McNeese State by a score of 3-2 (21-30, 30-25, 23-30, 30-21, 13-15). The loss drops the Bobcats to 5-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference, while McNeese State starts the season at 2-0 in the Southland and 7-2 overall.

For the second straight match, the Bobcats were plagued by errors, as the team committed 25 attacking errors and 15 service errors for the match. Overall, Texas State held an attack percentage of .216 with 61 total kills, compared to 66 kills and an attack percentage of .202 for the Cowgirls.

Three Bobcats finished with double figures in kills, as junior Lizzy Nwoke led the way with 12, followed by senior Kacee Rogers with 11, and sophomore Kelly Fletcher with 10.

Senior Stephanie Torregrosa set a season-high with 18 digs, tying her with junior Amy Ramirez for the team-lead in the match. Senior Krystal Kolkhorst collected her sixth double-double of the season with 36 assists and 12 digs, while freshman Jessica Grisham led the squad in blocks with seven.

Texas State will now look to capture its first conference win of the season on Saturday night when it faces the Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont, Texas. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m., at the Montagne Center.
