COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas State women's volleyball team fell Tuesday night to Texas A&M 3-0 (30-14, 30-22, 30-13). The loss drops the Bobcats to 2-2 on the season, while the Aggies improve to 3-1.
It was a difficult night for the Bobcats as the team converted on just 19 of 90 total attacks for a hitting percentage of -.100. Meanwhile, Texas A&M had 43 total kills on 89 attacks, while also controlling the net with 24 blocks.
The match did provide an opportunity for the newcomers to step up as freshman outside hitter Brittany Prewit led the team with five kills and four defensive digs, while middle blocker Brandy St. Francis added four kills.
Libero Amy Ramirez once again led the defense with nine digs. The junior was also named earlier that afternoon to the Southland Conference's weekly honor roll for her strong individual performance at the Fullerton Classic.
The Bobcats will now return home to play host to the CenturyTel/Classic Honda Premiere this Friday and Saturday, Sep. 10-11, at Strahan Coliseum. This year's Premiere will pit the Bobcats against Ole Miss, James Madison, and San Diego State.
