Zach Allison scored 20 points as Texas State came back from a halftime deficit to beat McMurry 90-78 here Thursday.
The Bobcats (6-4) trailed 38-31 at the break but a pair of three-pointers by Josh Naylor and Lance Burroughs sparked a 15-2 run to begin the second half and the `Cats never looked back.
The three-pointers early in the second period pulled Texas State to within one before Anthony Dill stole a pass and scored at the other end to give the Bobcats a 41-40 lead with 17:19 to play. McMurry forward Travis Tennison was called for an intentional foul on the play and Dill knocked down one of two free throws. After another Tennison foul, Dill made two more free throws to extend Texas State's lead to 44-40.
Both Dill and Naylor finished with 17 points for the Bobcats while Chris Langhorne added 14, including a 10-for-10 performance at the free throw line. Markee White scored 12 points for the Bobcats and had three of the team's season-high 14 steals.
McMurry (7-3) jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead as Cole Dickerson scored a pair of buckets and Terence Mirabal drilled a three-pointer in the opening minutes. Texas State would come back to take a 26-23 lead with 4:02 remaining in the half but the Indians would answer the Bobcats' run.
J.R. Williams would knock down a three-pointer and add a pair of free throws in the final minute of the period to give the Indians a seven-point lead at the break. The game marked the third time this season Texas State had trailed at the half to a non-Division I team before coming from behind in the second period of all three contests.
Tennison finished with a double-double, scoring 18 points to go with 12 rebounds while Kelon Lewis scored 16 and Williams added 14 to go with seven assists.
Texas State travels to TCU Monday before opening Southland Conference play Thursday at McNeese State. McMurry returns to action next Thursday at the University of the Ozarks.
