HOUSTON, Texas -Texas State fell, 87-67 to Rice University, Friday. Tamara Thompson and Tori Talbert led the Bobcats. Talbert posted 23 points and seven boards, while Thompson added 19 points. Rice was led by Michelle Woods with 18 points and Lauren Neaves with 17 points seven rebounds three blocks and three steals.

Despite the loss, the Bobcats averaged 43.8 percent from the field, their second best shooting average of the season. The Owls shot 49.3 percent on the night.

At 12:03 in the first half Texas State drew with in one of the Owls on a jumper by Talbert. The 'Cats then gained the lead with a three point shot from Jenna Hoffman.

Rice and Texas State battled back and forth, until the Owls went on a 12 to five run to end the first half, 40-33.

After gaining the lead Rice held it for the remainder of the game despite the fact that in the second half the 'Cats shot 75 percent from beyond the arch. The Texas State bench also contributed 21 points in the second half.

Next, Texas State is continuing on to Bozeman, Montana to play Montana State on Monday at 7 p.m., before taking a few days off for the holidays.
