Texas State junior guard Andre Oupoh made his first career start and scored a game-high 16 points as Texas State defeated Rochester College 87-61 here Monday.
Oupoh came into the game averaging just 2.7 points an outing and did not play in three games at one point earlier this year. Against Rochester, he went 5-for-10 from the field including 3-for-5 from three-point range as the Bobcats picked up their third straight win to end a home stand.
Texas State (5-2) returns to action next Tuesday when it begins a two-game road swing at Colorado State. The Bobcats will face Northern Colorado the following night. Rochester College is now 6-9 heading into this weekend's Abilene Classic and will play Grace College Friday.
Texas State used a 16-5 run to turn a three-point game into a 27-13 Bobcat lead. During the rally both Josh Naylor and Lance Burroughs knocked down three-pointers. Naylor scored 15 points, making 3-of-10 three¬-pointers. As a team, Texas state shot 48 percent from both the field as well as three-point range. The `Cats made 12-of-25 three-point attempts.
Anthony Dill scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds to pick up his second double-double of the season. He also had two steals and two assists.
William Goree finished with 16 points to lead Rochester while Mike Tobin finished with 12.
