For the second straight match junior outside hitter Lizzy Nwoke led all players with 22 kills as the Bobcats defeated the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana in four-games (30-20, 22-30, 30-26, 30-28).
With the win, Texas State extends its win streak to three straight matches while SLU had its five-match winning streak snapped.
The `Cats are now 22-5 on the season and 14-3 in the Southland Conference while the Lions fall to 15-13 with a league-record of 7-10.
The win also keeps the Bobcats at the top of the Southland Conference with Stephen F. Austin (21-5, 13-3 SLC) who plays host to Sam Houston State tonight.
The match with SLU turned into a defensive battle as both teams combined for 195 digs (97-to-98) and had nine players record double-figures in digs.
Texas State managed only 68 kills in the match on .182 hitting while SLU finished with 57 kills at .171.
Senior outside hitter Stephanie Torregrosa recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 16 kills and a season-best 25 digs, while senior setter Krystal Kolkhorst had her 17th double-double with 53 set assists and 15 digs.
Freshman Ashley Stark also had a strong night on defense as she recorded 20 digs to go along with five assists and 2 kills, while freshman Brandy St. Francis finished with 16 kills and 7 blocks.
Texas State will return to action in its home finale against the Bearkats of Sam Houston State this Tuesday, Nov.
The match will start at 7 p.m. from Strahan Coliseum.
