Texas State senior forward Zach Allison scored 18 points and had nine rebounds as the Bobcats came from behind for a 73-56 win over St. Edward's Tuesday.
The Bobcats trailed 29-21 at intermission before going on an 11-3 run to start the second half. The `Cats shot just 24 percent from the field in the first half, making just eight field goals.
Allison's three-pointer with 15:37 to play gave Texas State a 35-34 lead and the Bobcats would not trail again after Anthony Dill's two free throws gave the `Cats a 37-36 lead.
Junior transfer Chris Langhorne scored all 13 of his points in the second half including a pair of layins during a 6-0 run that stretched the Bobcats lead to 52-44. Dill added 14 points and had seven boards.
After struggling from the field in the first period, Texas State shot 57 percent in the second.
St. Edward's was led by Chris Smith who recorded a double-double by finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Felder came off the bench to score 11 points for the Hilltoppers.
Texas State, now 1-1, travels to Alcorn State on Saturday while St. Edward's, 1-2, takes on Missouri-Rolla in the first-round of the Central Missouri Classic on Friday.
