San Marcos - The Texas State volleyball team (12-4, 6-2 SLC) extended its winning streak to seven-straight matches on Friday night with a convincing three-game win (30-26, 30-15, 30-21) over the Lady Demons of Northwestern State (9-8, 5-3 SLC).
With the win the Bobcats break a tie with the Demons for first place in the Southland standings.
The `Cats dominated the match connecting on 14 more kills then the Lady Demons (55-to-41) while out-hitting Northwestern State by a significant margin (.313-to-.180).
Leading the way for Texas State was senior middle blocker Kacee Rogers, who recorded a match-high 14 kills on .542 hitting, while also adding three service aces and six digs on the night.
Junior outside hitter Lizzy Nwoke also reached double figures in kills for the Bobcats with 13 on .379 hitting.
Senior setter Krystal Kolkhorst came close to a triple-double as she had a match-high 41 set assists as well as seven kills and eight digs.
On defense the Bobcats were led by senior libero Kristy Jones who had 15 digs, while senior outside hitter Stephanie Torregrosa finished with nine digs.
Texas State will return to action on Saturday, with another Southland battle against the Lady Indians on Louisiana-Monroe. The match is set to begin at Strahan Coliseum at 5 p.m.
