San Marcos, Texas -

The streak finally ended for the Bobcat volleyball team on Thursday night as Texas State fell to the Ladyjacks of SFA in three games (28-30, 19-30, 26-30). The loss ended a 14-match win streak, the third longest streak in team's history.

With the loss the Bobcats record moves to 19-5 overall and 12-3 in the Southland Conference, while SFA improves to 18-5 and 10-3 in conference play and extend their win streak to 10-straight.

"SFA just wanted it more then the Bobcats tonight," said Head Karen Chisum. "It is a tough loss but I would much rather this happen now then at the Southland Conference tournament next month."

For the second straight match the Bobcats struggled on serve receptions giving up 13 aces to the Ladyjacks including two straight aces that clinched a close first game for SFA.

In the match, Texas State hit .143 with 39 kills compared to 46 kills for SFA on .187 hitting.

The Bobcats were led in the match by junior outsider hitter Lizzy Nwoke who had 13 kills and four digs on .267 hitting.

Texas State had three of its players record double figures in digs led by senior setter Krystal Kolkhorst who finished the night with 15 digs and 30 set assists, leaving her just six assists shy of 4,000 for her career.

Senior libero Kristy Jones added 11 digs while sophomore middle blocker Karry Griffin had 12.

For the Ladyjacks outsider hitter Brittany Burton had 17 kills while the league's defensive player of the week Stephanie Figgers had a team-high 13 digs.

"It's tough having the streak over, but we knew it had to end sometime and this loss tonight might be the best thing to happen to us this year because it reminds us that we have a long way to go."

The Bobcats will look to get back on the right track next Tuesday with a non-conference match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Moody Fieldhouse.
