The Texas State women's volleyball team rolled in a three-game winner over the Lamar Cardinals on Saturday afternoon to extend its winning-streak to 13 straight matches.
With the win the Bobcats improve to 18-4 overall and remain in first place in the Southland Conference at 12-2 while Lamar falls to 7-17 and 1-13 in conference play.
For the second straight match the Bobcat hitters had a strong performance with 43 kills on .337 hitting.
On defense, Texas State held the Cardinals to a season-low .019 hitting and forced Lamar into committing 25 attacking errors.
The `Cats relied heavily on its reserves throughout the match, as setter Jessica Grisham (20 set assists), outside hitter Brittany Prewit (6 kills), and outside hitter Kim Hair ( 2 kills) each saw extended playing time.
Leading the way for Texas State was senior outside hitter Stephanie Torregrosa who finished the day with 9 kills (.529 hitting) and a match-high 10 digs, while junior outside hitter Lizzy Nwoke had 6 kills, and senior Kristy Jones added nine digs.
"It is a good win for us," said Jones. "We got to use a lot of players today and they did a great job for us."
For Lamar, Shari Hicks led her team with seven kills and .353 hitting while Alyssa Parks had 10 digs.
The Bobcats will play host to a non-conference opponent in its next match this Monday, Oct. 25, as Texas-Pan American heads to San Marcos for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
