SAN MARCOS -
Texas State University senior running back Terrell Harris's season has come to an abrupt end after suffering a fractured left fibula during the Bobcats' loss last week at Cal Poly.
Harris currently leads the team with 68 carries for 393 yards and seven touchdowns. The Kerens native ranks fourth in rushing in the Southland Conference as well as fourth in scoring in the league with 42 points. He had just four carries for 15 yards against Cal Poly before suffering the injury.
"Terrell has been one of the leaders of this football team," said Texas State coach David Bailiff. "He is a young man who showed up every day determined to work hard and win. While he no longer will be playing, he will continue to be one of our leaders."
Harris finishes his career with 279 carries for 1,613 yards (5.78 per carry average) and 16 rushing touchdowns.
Heading into Southland Conference play Saturday against Stephen F. Austin, Texas State has several questions due to injuries.
Texas State starting left guard Ken McKoy is doubtful with an ankle injury while starting left tackle Del Scales is doubtful with a shoulder injury. The Bobcats lost starting tight end Justin Marcellus to a knee injury after the first game of the season.
Defensively, Jeremy Castillo is listed as questionable this week with a knee injury. He is the Bobcats' leading tackle with 34 stops this season, including four tackles for loss and a quarterback sack.
