Tennis to Host UT Arlington on Saturday

SAN MARCOS, Texas– Texas State women's tennis returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts UT Arlington at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The Bobcats enter Saturday's match following a 4-0 home victory over Southeast Missouri. Texas State was also scheduled to play Lamar on Monday, but the match was ruled a no contest due to inclement weather.

Texas State remains perfect at home this season with a 4-0 record at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Senior Ireland Simme has led the Bobcats in singles play, posting a 7-2 record on courts three and four while winning her last five matches. Simme is also 7-2 in doubles competition on court one.

UT Arlington enters the weekend with a 3-8 record and has played only one road match this season, a 4-0 loss at TCU in early February.

The Mavericks recently snapped a five-match losing streak with a 6-1 home win over Butler. UT Arlington will host Tarleton State on Friday before traveling to San Marcos for Saturday's matchup.

UT Arlington's roster features a young lineup, with five of its seven players listed as freshmen.

Saturday's match will mark the 31st all-time meeting between the two programs. UT Arlington won the most recent matchup in 2022, 5-2, and holds a 25-5 advantage in the all-time series.
