CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Texas State men's golf shot their second lowest round in the final day of the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at the Birdwood Golf Course to finish 13
th.
To close out the final regular season tournament, Texas State had a nine-stroke improvement from the second round. The Bobcats shot six-over 290 to finish the tournament 25-over par. The 18-hole third round total of 290 is the second one this season.
Texas State's 13
th place finish is the highest this season. The field had 15 teams, with six being ranked in the top-50. The Bobcats finished second in total pars with 174, one behind tournament host Virginia.
No. 7 Florida State held the top spot through the final round and finished 41-under par.
Sakke Siltala finished first in the Bobcat lineup for the third time this season. The freshman tied for 38
th with his second straight two-over par finish. Siltala and
Harrison Hineline were the only Bobcats to not record a double bogey in the final round.
Hineline matched his season-low 18-hole total as the only Bobcat to finish under-par in the third round. The graduate had a seven-stroke improvement to move up 20 spots on the leaderboard. Hineline tied for 49
th and recorded his first second place finish in the Texas State lineup.
Jack Burke recorded his second round of six-over 77 in the tournament and fell 18 spots on the leaderboard with three double bogeys.
Marcelo Garza and
Tom Roed Karlsen both shot four-over 75 in the final round to close out the tournament.
