Sakke Siltala tied for tenth in his collegiate debut.
"The guys put together two excellent rounds of golf this week," men's golf head coach
Shane Howell said. "They learned in order to win tournaments you have to have three excellent rounds.
Sakke Siltala had a great performance in his first tournament for the Bobcats. The guys are excited to get back to San Marcos to get back to work and ready for the rest of the fall season."
Team
To open the fall season, the Bobcats tied for sixth place along with North Alabama shooting 836 28-under par. They scored 272 in the first round, just missing the school record for a single round by one shot.
51
st ranked Virginia maintained the top spot after all three rounds with 56-under.
Individual
Sakke Siltala led the Bobcats throughout the Invitational for his first tournament for Texas State. The Finland native tied for tenth shooting three-under in the final round with four birdies on the front nine.
Kasper Nyland finished the tournament second for the Bobcats and tied for 19
th overall with eight-under par. Nyland had two back-to-back birdies on holes five and six, and 12 and 13.
Transfers
Marcelo Garza and
Harrison Hineline also made their Bobcat debut. Garza finished five-under with three birdies in a row and seven total in the final round. Hineline had four consecutive birdies in round one and an eagle on hole 14 in round three.
