San Marcos, Texas- The Texas State football team plays its first home game of the season and looks forward to evening its record to 1-1 when the Bobcats play host to Southern Arkansas in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 11, at Bobcat Stadium. The game kicks off at 6:00 p.m.
The Bobcats enter the game looking to win their 15th straight home-opening game which dates back to the 1995 season. Texas State has a 100-70 all-time record on Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium after posting a 4-2 record last season.
Southern Arkansas brings a 0-1 record after dropping a 20-0 decision at Harding University last Saturday, September 4.

Scouting Texas State
For the second straight week, Texas State will have a new starting quarterback this Saturday night when freshman
Tyler Arndt makes his first career start after completing 14 of his 22 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown at Houston last week. He also had six rushes for 13 yards and two touchdowns. He scored Texas State's first touchdown at Houston on a 14-yard run. He also ran for a five-yard touchdown in the fourth period.
Preseason All-American wide receiver
Da'Marcus Griggs caught six passes for 85 yards, and preseason All-Southland Conference receiver
Daren Dillard caught five passes for 55 yards. Griggs also returned a punt 50 yards and a kickoff for 24 yards with the first return in his playing career.
Sophomore
Brian Lilly made his first start at middle linebacker and led the Bobcats in tackles with six and intercepted a pass against the Cougars.
Scouting Southern Arkansas
The Muleriders opened the season struggling on offense after gaining 164 total yards with 113 yards passing and 51 yards on the ground at Harding. Southern Arkansas had three turnovers in the game and missed a 39-yard field goal attempt when the kick by Noe' Cuevas' went wide left.
Senior quarterback Austin Civita completed 14 of his 31 passes for 113 yards, but threw two interceptions and was sacked three times. Josh Proffit led the Muleriders with four catches for 39 yards and Carlos Brown caught three for 16 yards.
Brown also led Southern Arkansas on the ground with 32 yards on 11 carries. Senior defensive back Daren Lewis and senior defensive tackle Cedric Thornton led SAU with eight tackles each,

Following the Southern Arkansas game, Texas State plays two home games against Cal Poly and Southern Utah before beginning its Southland Conference schedule at Southeastern Louisiana. Both the Cal Poly and Southern Utah games kick off at 6:00 p.m..
