Texas State Athletics

Ray Akins attended Texas State from 1946 to 1950. During this time, he lettered in football from 1947-1949 and Track from 1949-1950. Akins went on to serve 3 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a coach, he was nominated for the South All-Star Football Coach Award from Region 7-1973. He also went on to coach 3 State Champion Shot-Putters, 23 All State Football Players and 3 All American High School Football Players.
