Joe Cole was a letter winner for the Bobcat Men’s Basketball team from 1954-1958. A tenacious rebounder, Cole played center for the Bobcats where he led the nation in rebounding for two years and finished top 10 in rebounding in the Lone Star Conference all four years of his playing career.
Cole currently holds multiple records, including the individual record for most rebounds in a game with 39. He is 2nd all-time for most rebounds in an individual season at 486 and he is 7th all-time in career rebounds with 786. From 1955-1957 Cole led the team in rebounds averaging 15.7 his sophomore year and 16.8 his junior year.
As a highly decorated player, Cole was named both All-Lone Star Conference and NAIA All-American. During his sophomore year, the Bobcats boasted an impressive 16-7 record, his junior year the Bobcats finished 22-7.
