Billy Hall was a four-year letter winner for the Bobcat football team from 1979-82.  In 1982, Hall was selected First-Team All-Lone Star Conference and Third- Team All-American as a defensive back for the Bobcats.

As a freshman in the spring of 1979, Hall tried out as a walk on and made the football team under new head coach Jim Wacker. During his first season, Hall made the traveling squad and started on special teams for the Bobcats. After the first game of Hall’s second season, his father was killed in a tragic car accident while returning home from a Bobcat football game. Hall remained on the team, inspired by his father’s love and support, and two games later was named the team’s starter at right corner. Hall went on to start the next 36 games of his career, and the Bobcats compiled an unbelievable 33-3 record.  Hall moved to free safety during his junior and senior seasons, and he helped the Bobcats win back-to-back National Championships.

During his senior year, Hall finished third in total team tackles, forced two fumbles, recorded four interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and blocked three field goals. He was named the Bobcat Defensive Player of the Week four times and won the “Hardest Hit-Defense” team award for four games. Hall finished his career top 10 in Bobcat history in total pass breakups in one season with nine. While on the team from 1980-82, Hall was a member of three Lone Star Conference Championship teams, as well as two NCAA Division II National Championships. In 1982, the Bobcats went undefeated with a perfect 14-0 record. Between 1981 and 1982 they were 27-1, and from 1980-1982 they were 33-3.

In addition to his many athletic achievements, Hall was also named to the All-Texas Academic Football Team from 1981 to 1982 and was an Academic All-American Nominee both seasons. In addition, Hall was named a Texas State Distinguished Health and Physical Education Awardee his senior year.  Hall graduated with a Bachelor degree in Physical Education with a minor in health education.

After graduating, Hall immediately began a career as a teacher and football coach beginning with his first stop a Refugio ISD. Hall coached multiple positions during his career and spent time as a head coach at both Sharyland High School and Fort Worth Southwest High School.  Hall also had stints at Ellison, Killeen, Alvarado, Judson and Wagner High Schools. In 1991, Hall helped Killeen High School win the class 5A Division I State Championship as the co-defensive coordinator and secondary and wide receivers coach. In 2002, Hall won his second class 5A Division I State Championship as the co-defensive coordinator, secondary and first assistant coach at Judson High School.

In 2000, 2004 and 2010 he coached in the state quarterfinals and was able to coach his own son during his senior year at Judson High School. From 1984-2010, Hall was privileged to coach 18 First-Team All-District safeties, four All-State players, two High School All-Americans, three NFL defensive backs and one Super Bowl Champion. Hall retired from coaching in 2014, and credits a great deal of his success to be able to coach alongside his fellow Bobcat teammates.  Since retiring, Hall started Split Eagle Services, his own landscape and tree service business.

Aside from coaching, Hall is an active member of his community. He was an FCA Huddle Leader for most of his high school coaching career. He is a present member at the Hillside Fellowship Church where he is a Bible study teacher, Bible school volunteer and a family group leader.  Hall and his family also serve at Singing Hills Retreat Ministry logging a total of nearly 3,000 hours of family service. Hall and his wife, Teri, have attended many Bobcat functions over the years including Coach Wacker’s memorial service. He also participated in the dedication ceremony of “Jim Wacker Field” at the Bobcat Stadium.
